Songwriter Peter Mayer writes — “So, the challenging thing becomes, not to look for miracles, but finding where there isn’t one.”
You may think that’s an overstatement. Many people consider miracles as things that happened in Biblical times. Because we don’t take some time to look at the world around us. And, for reasons uknown, when given a choice we look at life in a poor rather than a positive light.
We all undergo challenging times. If we didn’t, there wouldn’t be much point to life. If you seize as soon as, the maximum lessons come out from the biggest challenges. My a reaction to hard times is always to always give gratitude for what I’ve, where the alternative is always to complain in what I don’t have. In a very difficult stretch, it becomes harder to locate things to possess gratitude for.
I often find yourself feeling grateful for these especially hard times. You realize how a lot of things you just take for granted during the occasions when you have to dig deep to locate something to be grateful for. If you sit quietly for an instant and just observe the world around you, it doesn’t take long to realize that nearly everything’s a miracle.
Or, if you’re like me and you’ve a 4 year old, you obtain daily reminders of the truth that everything’s a miracle. The only real answer I’ve for lots of her constant questions lately is “it’s a miracle.”
I scraped my knee and she wants to understand how the body heals itself. It’s a miracle. We planted tiny little ugly brown seeds within an egg carton this spring. How can they grow into the beautiful flowers pictured on the seed package? It’s a miracle. Why does sunlight set? Miracle. Why does it snow in the spring? Miracle. Why does my 9 month old cry when I leave the space? Another miracle.
Of course you will find complex scientific explanations for most of these things. That doesn’t make sure they are any less of a miracle.
With millions of people in the world, how do we meet up with the love of our life? How can we find a friend that knows exactly what to express at just the right time? How are we able to be on after the death of a parent, or worse yet, a kid? How do a dog enable a blind man to reside like he were sighted? Why does chocolate taste SO good?
Well, I possibly could carry on, but hopefully you obtain the point. Because a lot of people don’t get the point a course in miracles. And if you’re not “into” self improvement and personal growth, you may never stop good enough to realize the point. Life is indeed full and so challenging and so hectic, that it’s frighteningly simple to miss the truth that miracles are everywhere and in everything.
It matters the way you see the world and it matters the way you tell the story. This is actually the key to self improvement without changing anything besides your perception of the world. Just open your eyes up to the miracles around you.
If someone asked me how my day was, for example, I possibly could respond by telling them so it was a miserably cold and rainy day, and all my kids were tired from staying up too late, and getting everyone up and dressed to take my daughter to school was a genuine struggle.
Or I possibly could inform them simply how much fun we had staying up late the night time before roasting marshmallows on the fire, and how my daughter sang an attractive rendition of twinkle, twinkle little star to my baby that morning to keep him from being fussy. And I possibly could laugh about how my 2 year old ran around the house in my own high heel pumps that morning as I tried to chase him down and get his shoes on him. And I possibly could share simply how much fun my daughter had at school stomping in the mud puddles and locating the post-rain worms wriggling on the sidewalk. I possibly could marvel at the rainbow.
It’s up to me. I can’t control my kids’moods. I can’t control the weather. But I do control how I view the world. And how I tell the story, even when only to myself in my own head. I will view life as challenging or as a miracle.
Why does it matter? The short answer is that part of the goal of self improvement will be happy. And being happy simply for the sake of being happy is an excellent thing. However it goes deeper than that. Seeing the world as a miracle is crucial to your online business success. I’ll share why in my own next article.
